World(?)building in Magaar Alex Goodwin 29 Jul 2022 10:16 UTC

Itch to run Trav has built up again, and the usual mob (Herr Sweep, Easy
Frag, Wombat The Talkative, and Eddles) have indicated they'd prefer to
revisit the Advisoryverse.

Instead of a boatload of scrappy Terrans, I want to come at things from
the other side of the international border in question, sometime in the
first half of the 2130s AD.

I'm envisioning PCs as Ziru Sirka renegades who jumped the border for
very good reasons (such as their continued health), and ended up
collected by Derryn Dodgie's boys.  TCN intel then learned this lot how
to be basically competent low-level spies/adventurers (NOT Bond, Jamesh
Bond).  With IW2 still raging, they're given new identities/faces, and
sent back across the border, charged with casing the joint.  Shenanigans
are Expected To Ensue.  (Perhaps I might get another PC-commanded
nuclear weapon release).

Individual PCs could be _khagarii_ (outright dissidents), _kimashargur_
(romantics), or nails that refuse to be hammered down, among others.
For simplicity of play, HUMENS only - no Nugiiri (Droyne) or Newts
(Bwaps), to name two.

An outright, in-Joe-mould, Terran could work, if they had been stranded
deep in the ZS by the outbreak of IW1 or IW2, and reached Terra, only to
become a stranger in a familiar land (a la Marco Polo).  Terrani are
difficult due to the oldest not yet being 36.

Question is thus begged - where should this lot get into trouble?

Gadarur subsector in Magaar sector
(https://travellermap.com/?p=-5.819!-85.346!7&options=58367&dimunofficial=1&milieu=IW
for map) looks appealing for my purposes.  One hubworld (Gadarur
itself), 3 other A-class ports, another highpop world (Shakiimi), and
two AZS bases to support a specific opponent or two.

On downside, it's tabula rasa.  That's a ruddy big blank canvas to go
filling in.

How would the Learned Members suggest I fill in the gaps?

Alex
