I always thought that those CT LBB adventures were just suggestions.
I don't think I've ever been involved in anything w/ EIGHT real PC's.
What usually happened was that we would all (2-4 PC's)  use our 'regular' characters & add some of the pregens as NPC's if we thought they were needed.
Such as a retired Merchant Capt w/ a ship, if a ship was needed.
