Re: [TML] 'Rocket Science' gets even 'harder'! Phil Pugliese 02 Nov 2014 00:27 UTC

The TV News said that the pilot managed to eject after the explosion while the co-pilot failed to do so.
It was also mentioned that the survivor sustained "major injuries".

Kinda' reminds of the mid-air collision 'tween an XB-70 and a chase plane back in the '60's.

According to an article I read afterwards the pilot stated their ejection 'capsules' had to slide forward on rails in order to eject.
His capsule worked OK while the co-pilots got jammed due to a rail that had presumably gotten bent as a result of the collision. Therefore that capsule never made it into position to eject.

     The radio
 transcript from the rescue
team released today mentioned a parachute and checking
 a second
location after finding one crewmember dead in the
 wreckage. Sounds
       like he bailed out somehow.
