I'm sure they are, and I'm sure that a fair bit of crew time is spent on
maintenance. However, there is no mention of having to spend the time on
the ground in this, or of hiring shore teams to do this - it would be a
significant expense and thus something that would be mentioned if it was
the case, given that one of Traveller's focuses has always been the
'merchant campaign'. Also, it's noted that the crew generally gets time
off on-planet once cargo and passenger off-loading and other basic
chores are done. The amount of maintenance we're seeing from that
formula would preclude this.
