Howdy Rupert,

The details on what takes place while the ship is inport is, in my opinion, vague.

IIRC Timothy Collinson has mentioned that while he sailed on the library ship when they where inport during working hours some of the crew spent time doing maintenance, doing the library stuff, while others went out to purchase supplies and more stock. After working hours some of the crew stayed on the ship as security and did more maintenance. When there was something they needed help with the hired local help.

IIRC MT/TNE/T4 compute maintenance points that are modified by the ships computer and have the similar issues.

The maintenance system that I used in the USN looked at each system and broke them down into the man-hours needed working with the manufacturer. How exactly this was determined is beyond my knowledge.
