The canonical implementation of J6 Xboats was dependant upon the use of droptanks but info on that was, AFAIK, only present in the earliest TNS dispatches.
There was a mention of an 'accident' involving droptanks where a ship, civilian I believe, was destroyed when attempting a jump using droptanks.
I believe the program was then suspended & no further mention, that I'm aware of, was made of it.
