My reply was to provide the exact wording on how MT ocean refueling is conducted in answer to kaladorn's question. However, the material I cited states that the fuel in the tanks is unrefined there is no mention that it is used to make a jump.

As you have pointed out the water can be refined if the ship has a working fuel purification plant.
